Imbolc 2018

Join Chokecherry Grove, ADF, on Saturday February 3rd, as we celebrate Imbolc.

Imbolc is one of the 4 Celtic fire festivals, and we will be honoring Brigid.
Whether you see her as the Goddess Brighid, or as Saint Brigid, all friendly faces are welcome.
The ritual will be at the Kirk of Bonnie Brae Church in Denver. The address is

1201 S Steele St, Denver, CO 80210

We will be in the courtyard which faces Steele Street. There is a small parking lot, or you may park around the corner on Arizona Street.
Gather at 3 for Brighid Cross making, ritual at 4.

After ritual there will be a potluck, so please bring something to share.
We ask that you make an effort to bring something homemade.

Imbolc 2017

Although our high day rituals are usually held on Sundays, we have had to reschedule our Imbolc ritual to Saturday January 28th due to scheduling conflicts at our site, the Kirk of Bonnie Brae. I will be posting more information about the ritual soon, but wanted to get this information out now.

Looking forward...

Despite the snowy weather, we had a good Imbolc ritual at JUC, and CUUPS has invited us to do another one there, probably July 29th. In the meantime, we are hoping to celebrate our next High Day back in Overland Pond Park beside the Platte. This will be on Sunday March 20th, probably around 1:00 pm. More details to follow soon.

Imbolc - Sunday January 31st, 2016

Our Imbolc ritual this year will be held at Jefferson Unitarian Church in Golden, Colorado. We will gather at 6:30 pm, with the ritual beginning promptly at 7 pm. Weather permitting, we will be in the courtyard of the church. Ritual will be followed by our usual potluck, so bring a dish that suits your needs. This time we will also be collecting pet supplies for a local shelter.

Imbolc...

We had a wonderful Imbolc celebration last night at Spirit Wise Gifts. After a initial trance and centering in the hall, we began spontaneously to chant along with our Bard, and entered the ritual space chanting, being purified at the doorway by smoke and water. Kevin led us through the initial parts of the ritual, then spoke of Bridget, the Patroness of our rite, and several of us spoke of five of Her aspects. We made individual offerings, again with spontaneous chanting that filled our candle-lit room, and a final offering. Gwernin took the omen, which was excellent, and we shared the Blessings of the Waters of Life in the form of Rowen's wonderful mead. Then people spoke of challenges and blessings in their lives, and we closed the rite. The feasting that followed was full of joy and fellowship.

Imbolc update

On Sunday February 1st we'll be back at Spirit Wise (6590 South Broadway) for our Imbolc celebration. This year we honor Brigid, Celtic Goddess of poetry, smith-craft, and brewing. We will gather starting at 3 pm and begin the ritual at 4 pm. Please plan to arrive by 3:30 pm to allow for our pre-ritual briefing and attunement. This site is a basement room accessed by a steep staircase, so plan accordingly. This is a family-friendly ritual which will last approximately 45 minutes.  Please remember to bring two items for our food drive if possible, and a potluck dish to share during our after-ritual feasting.
